What is Over Fifty Travel?
What is Over Fifty Travel? When I met Tom, I found him to have an insatiable desire for exploration. On a regular basis, he would ask if I’d like to go see some great sight. It might be beautiful gardens, a grand plantation home beside the Mississippi, or a day spent wandering among the meandering bayous of Louisiana teeming with alligators, egrets and turtles. Always there was this great fascination with knowing what was beyond the next hill, around the next bend, or across that bridge. We visited Florida and marveled at the wild beasts in the Animal Kingdom, and laughed joyfully while riding the Dueling Dragons, twin roller coasters, eight times in a row. We happened upon the lighting of the Christmas lights on the Riverwalk in San Antonio just by chance. Then, when he had taken me to as many of his favorite haunts as he could manage, he asked me, “We’ve seen many things I wanted to show you, what is it that you’d like to see?” Ah, just the opening I’d been waiting for! My lifelong fantasy up to that point had been to go on a Caribbean Cruise. And I told him. So…we went on a Caribbean Cruise. Then I gained some confidence, and told him of the wondrous things I had experienced in the dry lands of the American Southwest. Arizona had been my home during my early life, and California was a favorite haunt. So, we experienced Los Angeles, he for the first time, me with new eyes. Tijuana, ay Chihuahua! And Arizona captivated his senses! My family, after two decades in Southeast Texas, returned to Arizona. So during visits there, we explored the wonders of the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and soon my hometown of Tucson! Our retirement is beginning this year, with a new home in Tucson, and soon…the world! Yes, Tom has promised to show me the world. And so, since I just love to share, I intend to show you the world as well. I reached fifty this year, and Tom is a bit older (he hates to admit he robbed the cradle), so we like to look at the world in a more relaxed, less strenuous manner. Therefore, here is the world for the over fifty crowd, over fifty travel is for you and me. Why not get yourself a virtual plane ticket and come along for the ride?
